One of ten paintings completed over a two-year time period, as one work in ten parts, entitled Living Rooms. Each painting was identified by its location in the floor plan: south-facing room spaces / images were oriented on the canvas close to the upper edge, north-facing rooms near the lower edge. Each shape articulated a specific interior room and threshold space(s) to any adjoining room or passageway, within the second-floor living areas in my home, at a scale of 1:7 inches. The subtitle "with lights, action," refers to sources of light and directional movement within each room /space. All canvases shared the same vertical dimension (32.5 inches); the horizontal dimension varied for each painting, dependent on the overall east-west measurement. [ more information ]
