For over 30 years, the Community Health Partnership of Illinois (CHP) has provided a broad range of primary health care services to migrant and seasonal farmworkers. CHP supports these communities by providing un hogar de salud, a "wellness home" where workers and their families receive quality medical and dental care from a team of dedicated, bilingual-bicultural professionals, in an atmosphere that fosters a sense of belonging.
CHP's current campaign, Lotería de la Clínica (Health Clinic Bingo), is a participatory, community driven, culturally responsive, health promotion project based on a vibrant Mexican bingo game that includes multiple illustrations and refranes (folk sayings or proverbs). In Lotería de la Clínica, the illustrations and refranes inform Latino migrant farmworkers and their families about health, mental health and dental services available at Community Health Partnership of Illinois' five clinics.
The design team included Sharon Oiga and UIC exchange students Octavio Acosta-Carlock & Karime Castillo Ramírez.
The Lotería de la Clínica campaign is funded by a Sappi Ideas That Matter Grant. [ more information ]
