Born in October of 1980, as indicated in the lower left, Lauren Hansen's age from zero to 28 builds upward line by line. Color and pattern indicate categories of activity: solid cyan for school, magenta backslashes for work, and yellow forward slashes for things extracurricular. The brightness of a color indicates relevance. Dull colors recede into the background and bright colors show the importance of a given period of time. Lowercase indicators tell more of the story from a.] a failed attempt at ballet, age 4, to x.] completed BFA program in Graphic Design at UIC, age 28.
Patterns of information reveal unusual activities. For example, school activities stop, but work does not, during winter and summer semester breaks. At age 19 there was a shift to in the pattern with an influential summer school session.
