Digital Dream Catcher. Copyright 2010 Mike Fischer.
Do computers think? Do androids dream of electric sheep?
Long has Native American Folklore postulated that dreams are tangible items, capable of being caught by bits of wire and leather. Human dreams, that is. What of the dreams of a computer?
I have constructed a device to harness such dreams. The dreams and aspirations of the technology that surrounds us are caught and displayed for all those who care to see them. As a traditional dream catcher is deceptively simple, so is it's digital variant, comprising only of an absorbing membrane, and a small readout screen. As the devices pass by, their thoughts are received by the membrane, and printed to the screen.
