Biography:
Dan Peterman is one of the most renowned and distinguished artists to reside in the Midwestern U.S. and his work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at prestigious venues. Peterman has used recycled materials to produce starkly minimal works that function as elegant sculpture, functional objects, and potent critiques of environmental waste and neglect. Peterman is also a founder and director of the Experimental Station, an innovative, Chicago-based incubator of small scale enterprise and cultural projects (www,experimentalstation.org). He is a nominee of the Blue Orange Art Prize, Berlin, Germany; and recipient of University Scholar Award from UIC; Richard H. Driehaus Foundation, Lewis Comfort Tiffany Foundation. His works have been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, IL; Venice Biennal, Italy; Galerie Klosterfelde-Berlin, Germany; Andrea Rosen Gallery, New York, NY; Le Creux de lEnfer Centre dArt Contemporain, Thiers, France; Kunsthalle, Basel, Switzerland; Smart Museum of Art, University of Chicago, IL; among other venues.
