Interdisciplinary Product Development

The UIC Interdisciplinary Product Development program is a two-
semester curriculum for advanced Industrial Design, Mechanical
Engineering, and Business students who work together in cross-
functional teams to research and develop new product concepts. The
program integrates the latest technologies and best practices of all
three disciplines. Focusing on the early stages of the product
development process from identifying market opportunities through
initial prototyping students, led by faculty from Art and Design,
Engineering, and Business, research and develop new product concepts
for client sponsors who have included Copco, Rehco, Motorola, Pactiv,
and Whirlpool.
