Graphic Design Intern - International Art Fair Company

The Art Fair Company, Inc., producers of the international fairs of contemporary decorative arts and design, SOFA (Sculpture Objects & Functional Art), is seeking graphic design interns for the spring, summer and fall quarters of 2011. Each is a paid internship (based on experience) within an internationally recognized art fair. All TAFC internships share the same basic expectations. At a minimum, applicants must: •possess the knowledge and skills required to work successfully in web graphics and marketing email production •be socially mature and self-confident •be able to take direction and criticism well •be able to digest new information quickly and apply it productively •be consistent and dependable in their work habits •have good communication skills •enjoy multi-tasking and creative problem-solving •work comfortably and effectively in a highly collaborative environment Knowledge of computing is essential. TAFC uses a wide assortment of creative software for web production, and email production such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and online resources and web applications for data collection and retrieval. Special Qualifications: Experience in Adobe Dreamweaver a must. Experience in Microsoft applications, Photoshop, and web graphics creation also required. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and proof-reading skills are essential, as is a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Activities: •Create marketing materials in web formats to be viewed by more than 23,000 email subscribers and the general public on the website •Assist with general marketing tasks •On-site duties may include assisting with video interviews, photography of sold artwork and data entry •Design web graphics for email and website within the SOFA brand guidelines •Update electronic and physical file archive of design projects •Assist with production coordination, file archiving, and image scanning Time Commitment: We will work with the successful candidate’s schedule, but the position is part-time, Monday-Friday, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm; occasional evening and/or weekend assignments during show times. Qualifications: •At least two years of progress on a degree in graphic design or related •Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, and Dreamweaver experience a must) •Knowledge of web design and image scanning •Strong communication skills •Ability to work well in a team environment •Knowledge of art, sculpture and design a plus When applying, please provide a current resume, a sample portfolio of work including a website that you have designed, a writing sample and three references (to include one professional, one academic, and one personal).
